This is a continuation of the topic started yesterday. How can you study English in a non-English country?
Many years ago I found a dual-language book. This was when I was trying to study Russian. Unfortunately, I only learned the alphabet and about ten phrases in Russian. I do still have the books though. Maybe I'll start again after I learn Japanese.
Back to the book. Dual-language books are a great way to start reading in your second (or third, or fourth) language. These books have English on one side, and another language on the other. It is very easy to compare the languages. For example, you could read the page in your first language, and then read the page in English. This will make you feel much more successful and you will be able to understand the English parts a lot easier. Here is an example:
I just did a search on Amazon in Canada and I found these books.
Here is an example or two.
Also, remember that at some time you will not feel like studying anymore. That is okay. You can take a break or just study something light. This means that you should study something that you enjoy. If you like watching YouTube videos, then watch that. If you like reading a comic (maybe Spiderman), then read that. If you like music, then listen to that.
What do I do when I don't feel like studying? I review the vocabulary that is comfortable to me. Even this is good practice.
We can fix that!
