What's wrong with this picture

Hello language learners!

This is your friendly neighbourhood English coach writing to you once again.

First, I have big news! A video is coming! It will be my first video, so I'm pretty excited. Wait for it!

Second, posted below is a picture of a sign in a store (sorry that it's out of focus). What is wrong with the sign? Can you guess?

Fix your English grammar mistakes

I'll give you a hint, look at the apostrophe ( ' ) on the sign. Is something wrong with it?

What does "Kid's" mean?

Here's the answer in steps:
1) Kid is a regular countable noun.
2) Kid mean one kid.
3) Kids means more than one kid.
4) Kid's is singular possessive. It means that only one kid own all those socks.

So, is one kid showing all of his/her sock collection? Probably not. These socks are for sale. So, the sign should read Kids'. This means that many kids can owns the socks.

This website is a little bit complicated, but I think it might help. It has many examples of apostrophe use. Also, Lynne Truss with Bonnie Timmons created a great book that is very easy to understand.

If you are having trouble with things like the apostrophe, we can fix that!
