Hello Language Learners!
I am very sorry for the long time between posts. My life got very busy. Specifically, I visited Japan in October. Planning, packing, touring, returning, unpacking, and getting over jet lag took some time. It was my first visit to an Asian country and I loved it! I will go back!
Also, it was the first time that I had to use Japanese. Speaking my second language was a lot of fun, but also very tiring. I learned that listening to a second language and trying to translate makes my brain very, very tired. Probably it makes you tired too. However, I really loved speaking Japanese, I learned a lot, and I got to make some people smile when I made mistakes.
I remember that I said, "I see thank you," instead of saying "Thank you," in the polite way. This always made people smile. I think they appreciated that I was trying to speak Japanese.
English speakers are the same. You can make mistakes, but that's okay. We are just happy that you are trying. Sure, some people get impatient, but that's not your worry. They are just having a bad day.
Also, using money was interesting. In Canada, we almost always use electronic payments (credit cards and debit), but in Japan, people almost always use cash. I hadn't used cash in a long time, so it was a little strange for me. More fun!
Don't worry, I will post more tips about how to improve your English soon!
If you are too shy to speak English and learn from your mistakes, we can fix that! If you would like to ask me about online tutoring, please email me at englishispersonal@gmail.com

P.S. I'm not too sure where in Kyoto this was, but it was a beautiful!
