Howdy language learners!
Today I was thinking about how I am improving my Japanese. Yes, English is my first language, but I have been studying Japanese for about a year now. I am studying slowly, but I do it every day. Sometimes, I get very excited and I try to learn things that are too hard for me. When I do this, I often get frustrated. Then, I try to remember to study my basic skills.
For example, my pronunciation of 'ri' was not good for a long time. I'm now concentrating on this. Also, I was studying a lot of vocabulary, but I wasn't studying Hiragana very much. I decided to concentrate on the alphabet so that I didn't get frustrated when I saw Japanese writing. Maybe I can learn to read it!
I'm using a very basic book. Here it is!
I am not embarrassed to use it because I need to learn the basics.
Don't forget to go back to the basics when you need to. For example, when you know that your pronunciation of some sounds is not good, study that for a while. Sure, it might seem simple and boring, but you will be much happier after. Or, if you are making the same grammar mistake again and again, slow down and fix it. Create a good habit!
If you have some bad English habits, we can fix that!
